STAY GOLD
18 Sept 2014 @ Thursday, September 18, 2014 | 0 notes

Hear ye hear ye!

For the past two years, my fiance and I have been using our Iphone 4 (which is now still in a very good condition). And this year, we decided to re-contract and change our phone to a new one. Its about time!

So Mr Fiance got himself a Samsung S5 Gold. I was kind of sad that he has changed to a Samsung user, no more couple phones, you see. But that's his choice. Imma stick to Iphone!

As for me, I've gotten myself an Iphone 5s Gold. Yes, yes, Iphone 6 is coming out soon but I don't really like the shape of the phone.

Initially, we were supposed to get it next month but somebody can't wait to get his hands on the new phone.

Anyway, I am really proud of myself for holding on this long and for keeping my Iphone 4 really well. No cracks, no problem with the battery etc. And I'm really proud of myself for holding on to it despite having the urge to change a year ago because Iphone 5s's camera quality is very good.

Now I just need to wait another 2 years for another change. Hope all is well!

BAHTFIRST! Let me take you to the city of smiles.
12 Sept 2014 @ Friday, September 12, 2014 | 0 notes

Hey, I'm back from my much needed break and no, I'm not quite happy about it. Boohoo. One week of vacation, away from work and this concrete jungle, gone just like that? Rude.

However, the trip was astounding! Right from day 1/5 to day 5/5. All thanks to the people that made it happen (Dee & Peach) (Oh that's our name in Bangkok. Mine is Lily. Haha)

Day 1

Woke up as early as 5.15am to get ready and meet up with Peach & Dee. Thanks to Dee's brother for sending us all the way from Jurong to Changi Airport, much appreciated! Checked in straight away and rushed to grab a fast breakfast before boarding the plane.

Oh! This is the first time I encountered barotrauma of the ear during descending of the plane. It was very painful, especially on my right ear. For a moment I thought I was going to have a bad start-off of the trip but I was lucky that it went away when we reached Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Day one was an all cab day. Basically we took the cab to anywhere since it was our first time there in Bangkok. So we took a cab all the way to our hotel (Mercure Hotel Siam) which cost us 300baht ($12)

Upon reaching the hotel, we were astonished by the interior of our hotel room and its view. The view from our room was breathtaking. We could see sunrise and sunset beautifully from our hotel room. To add on, our hotel is just 2 minutes walk from the BTS train. Whats not to love?

First stop, Chatuchak. It is like Bugis street here in Singapore but multiply by 100? It is so huge! But we only conquered the clothing area. Our super big extra bags were filled with new shopping items. Like the malay lingo "PUAS HATI LAH!" Items ranging from 300baht ($12) and below? Oh em gee.

After Chatuchak, we made our way to the so-called hipster night market, The Rod Fai Market. The shopping experience here was so-so but the environment and the concept of the shops was ultrahip! Not forgetting the shop-owners too.

Last stop, Tesco supermarket to stock up our food and drinks for the 5d4n trip and then back to our hotel to recharge.

Day 2

Started off day two feeling all hyped up for one of our main activities for this trip, the Ocean Walker! Today, we go public.

Started the day early and we have to wait for the shopping centre to open. So we grabbed a bite at The Coffeebeans since its halal. Oh, just so you'd know, it is very easy to find halal food here but the options aren't quite many. And to my surprise, I don't really like the taste of the Tom Yum there (I am a Tom Yum freak actually)

We were some of the few early birds to reach Ocean World (kiasu level Singapore). Got a good deal for Ocean World and Madame Tussaud's package so we took it. First activity of the day, Ocean Walker! Here's some of the many photos. And the CD that includes our photos and videos only cost us 400baht ($16). Grab loh!

Afterwards, we explored the Ocean World and to be honest, it is actually quite interesting than the Sea Aquarium in Singapore. Or its just me being bias.

Then we check out the famous MBK shopping center and tapau our dinner. Got myself the original Thai Iced Tea and instantly fell in love with it.

Day 3

This is the most tiring day of all, hands down. Shopping right from the start till the end. Phew!

Started the day by taking a dip in our rooftop swimming pool that has a so-shiok view.

Now to Platinum Mall by Tuk-tuk! Our first ever tuk-tuk experience. It was insane. But fun. And the best part, dirt cheap.

Now, this is the best part. SHOPPINGGGGGGGG! There were over 2000 shops that sells items at wholesale price. We went crazy I tell you.

But the best part of this shopping centre is, the surau/musollah. It is well decorated and well maintained. The wallpaper looks like we are in Mekkah doing our Hajj. I just find it funny.

Day 4

Not enough of shopping? Lets explore more shopping centre. We explored Terminal 21 and I really liked it. The whole interior of the shopping centre, especially its toilets. They have several world famous cities under one roof! They have Tokyo, London, Istanbul and San Francisco all on different levels.

Take a look at how they designed the toilets:

Had our lunch at The Manhattan Fish Market and guess what? Our meals cost us 99baht ($3.90) for a plate of spaghetti, 39baht ($1.50) for a glass of Iced Lemon Tea and 200baht ($8) for a platter!

At night, we took a last dip and embraced the last moments of our stay in the awesome hotel.

Day 5

Bought the same shirt to be worn for our last day here in Bangkok. Coincidentally the owls on our shirts were one, two and three!

Made our way to Siam Discovery to visit Madame Tussaud's. Spent about an hour or so in it taking photos and pretended to attend a celebrity party, haha. Bought the official photo as a souvenir which cost us 300baht ($12) each and made way to MBK shopping centre for a last minute shopping since our mission is to finish up all the bahts that we brought here.

Left our hotel at about 3.30pm Bangkok time, sobsob, and made our way to the airport.

It was indeed a very enjoyable trip with Peach and Dee. Thank you for the memories and to many more trio trips in the future! Left Bangkok with a heavy heart.
